Lady Gaga Wows w/ National Anthem @ Superbowl 50

Lady Gaga has had quite a year reinventing herself, or should we say rediscovering herself? After a Grammy-winning album with Tony Bennett and incredible performance of the Sound of Music, she astonished the rest of the world with her respectful and powerful performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” at Superbowl 50! Her performance began and ended with her hand respectfully over her heart and she tastefully chose minimal derivations from the original melody. While other performance try to show off their chops, Lady Gaga showed off the song.

This is one of the rare circumstances where the performance of the National Anthem overshadowed the highly anticipated halftime show that featured Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Beyonce. Lady Gaga has been quietly re-establishing herself in the public eye as a consummate performer that cannot only exist outside of the high-powered dance tunes, but thrive there. She’s mentioned works of a new album, but no word yet on it being a pop venture, another jazz album or something completely different. That’s why we always lover her though: we never know what to expect, but we’ll probably love it.
